Algorithm

When I attended BLAST design conference (which massey put on at the end of 2010). Clem Devine from ALT group was one of the speakers. He spoke a lot about algorithm so I thought I'd look it up.

Algorithm [a set of rules for solving a problem in a finite number of steps, as for finding the greatest common divisor].

So algorithm can help make sense of some of the chaos you can get lost in with design. Sometimes it helps to have some sort of guide as to how to treat the details with your work. This sounds like a similar idea to the flexible identity system that was mentioned in class today.

An example of that is here
  • 3 Names (Hudson Gavin Martian)
  • 3 Colours (RGB)
  • 3 symbols (Trademark, Copyright, registered trademark)
Another example of this algorithm is with the work ALT group did for The Auckland Museum. They had this ideas of stripes and its followed right throughout their work as you'll see. They also got a silver award for this at the best awards.
